Best of the West Having arrived the previous evening in San Francisco the fun begins on your first morning collecting the bikes from our hire centre. We head out over the Golden Gate Bridge travelling around The Bay and out through the rich California farmlands gives you the chance to acclimatize to riding a strange bike in a strange land. We stop at Buck Meadows to spend our first night close to Yosemite. Travelling through the magnificent park from the heights of the Yosemite cliffs, to the bottom of its waterfalls, the scenery is stunning. The sight of timid wildlife, in the throes of new birth, brings a feeling of renewal to even the most jaded of us. Leaving Yosemite we travel through the great forested parks of Sequoia and Kings Canyon, the home General Sherman Tree, the worlds biggest living thing. Winding our way out of the park we stop overnight in the Kern Valley near Lake Isabella..
Onwards we GO! Leaving Lake Isabella we ride to the depths of Death Valley experiencing our first desert day. Here you can explore the history of the valley or simply unwind in the balmy waters of the Furnace Creek Resort pool. Continuing east we scoot past Las Vegas and take in some of Historic Route 66 stopping near the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Take a short ride in to spend the day riding along or even flying over the South rim to experience the worlds most famous gorge. Sunrise and sunset should be experienced if at all possible. Moving onward and upward we travel through the magnificent Monument Valley and head towards the canyons above Lake Mead. As we turn west riding through the canyons and then the high plateaux we head for the beautiful Bryce and Zion canyons. Again sunset and sunrise over Bryce canyons shouldnt be missed. Stopping for a night in Sin City, or Las Vegas to you and me, we take a relaxed ride to the back ranges behind Yosemite before heading for the high ground and winding our way back to San Francisco..
