Circuit & Area Details

The circuit uses tracks and paths in the parkland at the front of Donington Hall. Initially, it was used only for motorcycle racing. It wasn't long, however, before Fred Craner, a local garage owner and secretary of the Derby and District Motor Club, had persuaded the Sheilds family, who owned Donington Hall, to also allow car racing. To make this possible, the circuit was resurfaced and extended by 1933.

Travel Information

The circuit is at the heart of the English Midlands, at the hub of the motorway network and adjacent to M1/A42 junction 23A and M1/A50 junction 24A. The nearest cities are Derby, Nottingham and Leicester, all within 20 miles. Barton Buses operate their Rainbow 5 Service between Nottingham and Donington Park. This service will take you to Castle Donington home of Donington Park. You can catch the Rainbow 5 from Nottingham's Broadmarsh Bus Station, Beeston Bus Station or Long Eaton. It's generally an hourly service to Castle Donington. East Midlands Airport, with a growing number of scheduled flights is nearby the circuit.
