Route 66 is not just a road, a route or a byway; it is a community in its own right. With fans and fanatics from every corner of the globe, since it's declassification in 1985 instead of disappearing into the memories of the dim and distant past it has found a life of its own.

Popularized in song and on TV and commented on in the press this old soldier rallies on through the 8 states of Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. Rising amongst the skyscrapers of Chicago traversing the green hills of the Ozarks, crossing great swaths of grasslands and deserts, great rivers and high plains, tip toeing through the beating heart of glamorous Beverly Hills in LA it finally runs out at the edge of the pacific ocean at Santa Monica Pier. It has symbolized the great open road and freedom over 50 years.

Route 66 was a cross section of the heart of America; it epitomized the very soul of America. Bringing the Route 66 experience to a whole new generation of road wanderers the historic preservation associations in each state continue their efforts to preserve and revive sections of this iconic route.

Usurped by Interstates, with many different routes appearing at different times throughout its history and with only about 85% of the original defined route still in existence, some of it is not navigable by motor vehicle, occasionally it only exists as a shadow of its former self, and occasionally disappearing altogether we strive to take you along the best of the route along its 2,448 miles from beginning to end.

Experience the sights, both kitsch and quaint, the faded and the fun, the bright lights of neon to the giants proclaiming their right to make weird and wonderful claims we hope you enjoy your jaunt with us through the American landscape of yesteryear.
